MUSIC:

Vocal or instrumental sounds combined in such a way as to produce beauty of form, harmony, and expression of emotion.

There are many types of music, Green Day plays Rock, and Punk Rock music.

-PUNK ROCK music: Punk rock is a rock music genre that developed in England, punk bands created short songs, with distorsions instruments and and often political, anti-establishment lyrics.

Green Day is an american Punk Rock band, created in 1987.

The components of the band are, Billie Joe Armstrong, Mike Dirnt and Tre Cool

Billie Joe Armstrong, born 17th February , 1972 ; in Oakland, (California), he wins with Green Day, in many times, the MTV prizes, Artist of the Year, Album Group of the Year, Pop Group of the Year, Hot 100 Group of the Year and Rock Artist of the Year.
Billie is the lead vocalist and the guitarist of the band but he also plays piano, drums, saxophone, armonica, bass and violin.

Frank Edwin Wright III born on 9th December , 1972. The drummer of the band

Michael Ryan Pritchard born 4th May , 1972. The bass of the group

DISCOGRAPHY:

Their first albums are 39/Smooth (1989), and Kerplunk (1992), in theses moments the group isn’t very popular so Green Day hadn’t sold many units.

The group was young and hadn’t got the experience, which the big bands of the decade had, as Metallica, Pink floyd…

DOOKIE, with this Album, Billie and the band, jump to the fame, because they sold 15 million copies around the world. “every people in the street, sing their songs”

The most important hits are “Basket Case” and “When I Come Around”

Unfortunately, after the impact of Dookie the band, went from the top to the decline. Insomniac(1995), Nimrod(1997) and Warning(2000) ) hadn’t got triumph between their fans. In 2000 the group thought separate themselves.

AMERICAN IDIOT

This fantastic album means the renaissance of the international Punk Music, the band return to be strong and sure. The album won a big number of awards, including a Grammy for Best Rock Album.

21ST CENTURY BREAKDOWN

After the sucess of their last album, the band was worried about their future. But his new album 21st Century Breadown, was an other big hit from the universal music. In the 4 months of their release, they had sold 3.5 millions copies.
